Waiata & turning of the first sod.— 1/05/07 On Tuesday 1st May 2007 a Waiata was performed by Arowhenua Hotel staff for the ceremonial turning of the first sod. This was to bless the ground as the first dig was made on the site of the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre.
Stormwater Pipes— 30/04/07 The construction process for the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre started on Monday 30th April 2007 with work on the Stormwater Pipes.
