Work Permits
If you are not a citizen of New Zealand or Australia, please read this page.

If you are from overseas you will need to obtain a work permit to be employed by us. You may obtain a work permit either by having a working holiday visa or by receiving work permit sponsorship from The Hermitage.

Working Holiday Visa's
For information about Working Holiday Visa's visit the following Department of Immigration website:
www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/workingholiday

Most international staff will apply having first obtained a Working Holiday Visa. If you have applied for one of these visas but approval is pending you may still lodge an application, however, you must send us evidence of acceptance before an interview can be considered.

Sponsorship Visa's
For information about Sponsorship Visa's visit the department of immigration website: www.immigration.govt.nz

Whether or not sponsorship is possible for most positions depends on the number of applications we receive from NZ and Australian citizens, as per New Zealand Immigration policy. Sponsorship is currently straight forward to arrange for high demand positions such as Sous Chef and Chef de Partie. To be eligible for consideration you must have solid experience and all the relevant qualifications. The Hermitage may be able to support your application, but the final decision is always made by NZ Immigration, so all of their criteria must be met.

In all cases, whether it by a working holiday or sponsorship visa, you must supply evidence of your final work permit before you can commence employment. It is recommended that you do this at the time of your application or as soon as practical thereafter. If you have only supplied a copy of your work visa you must also supply evidence of the work permit when this is awarded upon entry to New Zealand. If your work permit has a 3 month limit on employment, you may still apply however this timeframe will apply - generally we require a 4 to 5 month employment commitment. Finally, make sure your work permit does not expire before the end of the your employment contract.

For further information about the various types of work visas that may be available to you depending on your personal circumstances, please refer to www.immigration.govt.nz  for details.
